Shakira - a 1GOAL ambassador!

Grammy Award-winning artist and philanthropist Shakira has become a 1GOAL ambassador. Alongside her successful music career, Shakira is a tireless spokesperson for children worldwide who do not have access to quality education, both as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and President and founder of the Barefoot Foundation. Having successfully lobbied world leaders for education on many occasions, such as at the Ibero-American Summit and to the United Nations, she will be an invaluable asset to our groundbreaking campaign.

Voicing her support for the campaign the singer said “The World Cup captures the attention and hearts of millions. We must use this moment to raise our voices for 1GOAL and demand that this generation of children have the chance to fulfill their dreams and live up to their full potential through education,”

Shakira is not a newcomer to GCE projects – in 2008, she served as the chair of GCE’s Action Week and 1GOAL is thrilled to welcome her as an experienced and dedicated global education advocate. In a statement to the press Adrian Lovett, chair of the GCE 1GOAL campaign committee commented: “We are delighted Shakira has joined 1GOAL. She is a humanitarian, a philanthropist, and one of the world’s biggest artists.
